August Session Motions

Motions made and approved by Session at the meeting of

August 23, 2009

  1. Approved the Finance operating statements of May and June 2009.
  2. Approved establishing a sub-committee to study the use of the Family Life Center facilities. Committee to consist of Warren Black, Barbara Miller, George Douglas, person each from Youth and Hospitality.
  3. Approved a free will offering at the piano dedication recital on September 20,2009
  4. Approved Blue Grass Sunday to be held on October 25, 2009
  5. Approved Scott Horn and Gabrielle Thompson as the nominees from the Scholarship Committee.
  6. Approved Liz Doyle, Ruth Kazeck, Melanie Ruta and Ray Crickenberger as commissioners to Presbytery on September 1 at Lake Square Church in Leesburg.
  7. Approved extending the employment contract of Associate Interim Pastor Labert Altemose.
  8. Approved Worship Ministry Group and the Music Department to bring a proposal to the session in September for establishing a Fine Arts Studio. (Environment in which children and youth can learn music skills as applicable to Christian worship).
  9. Approved the transfer of Millie Kennedy and Barbara Rowe Colvin to out of town churches. Remove Courtney Moore from membership and place Gerrie Santos, Pat Fisher, Bill and Marilyn Iverson on inactive status.
  10. Approved the plans from Adult Education for Sunday School classes, Wednesday Night Live programs and classes to be taught by Pastor Labert.
  11. Approved Mary Allen Singer as permanent part time Director of Youth.
  12. Requested that The Foundation review the request from Presbytery for donations from area churches to establish an “Ed Peterson Scholarship Fund”.
  13. Approved a request from Presbytery that FPCM host events such as “Lollapalooza” one time every four years.
  14. Approved amending the by laws of The Foundation establishing that the Officer Nominating Committee be responsible for the nomination and election of The Foundation board members.
