Hands for HireYou have to admit, we do some pretty cool things around here… but it can get costly. The first step is to download and turn in the Hands for Hire form, and make sure that you have the Medical Release Form on file too. Are you ready for Wednesday Night Live? This year Wednesdays are made for fellowship, fun, faith and families. WNL starts September 30th and through November 18th. Youth who are interested in attending must register online [Download LOGOS Registration Form | Download LOGOS Family Covenant] or at church. The cost for WNL for all 8 weeks is: Individual $50, and a Family Cap $150. If you will be joining us once or twice, the cost is $8 per visit. Contact the church office for course offerings for children and adults; In the meantime here’s what’s in store for youth during WNL:

CHOICES 7:00-8:00pm “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a human experience” Teilhard De Chardin We all want the best for our teens; we want them to make it to adulthood without the consequences of poor choices that could affect them the rest of their lives. Yet teens today are in constant turmoil and confusion as their bodies and minds transition from childhood to adulthood. They deal with the peer pressures and the social pressures to be something that God does not want them to be. This program will help educate them, so they can be aware of these pressures, and to give them the tools to walk away or confront these pressures in a Godly way. CHOICES will provide a safe place where E26 can talk about these social pressures and offer them a chance to explore alternatives to building a stronger sense of self… the self God created them to be. The Assertiveness Techniques will prepare them to deal with the temptation of skipping school, cheating, experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol, sex, and many other things that we do not want to think our children are confronted with daily. They will be asked to reinforce these skills through role-playing, and discussion with you, the parent. Ideally, the conversations started at church will lead to open honest conversations in your home as well. My hope is that CHOICES will empower our youth to make decisions for their human experience that honor their Christian spiritual selves. As a church community and as parents we need to be strong and we need to support each other when it comes to our children. Our teens need and want direction. CHOICES will give our youth the spiritual strength to be strong in their character and secure in their own responsible choices they are faced with daily. CHOICES is a co-ed class for sixth through 12th graders and is being taught by Sandy Bishop during WNL (Wednesday Night Live). Sandy has experience as a Guidance Counselor in Orange County Public Schools and is adding a faith component to a course she has taught many times. As a member of FPCM, Sandy’s passion for the health and wellbeing of all youth extends beyond the classroom and into our faith community. |
