Ron Smith is our Senior Pastor. Ron is an innovative leader with three decades of experience in telling people about Jesus and being a representative of Jesus. An exceptional communicator and teacher of the Scriptures, he is warm, engaging and personable. Ron and his wife, Cheryl, have been married since 1975. They have been blessed with two children, David Ashley Smith and Marion Elizabeth Smith. He enjoys traveling to third and fourth world countries to teach; days at the beach; perspiring in the fitness center; reading; watching NCIS; being with his family; A decorated veteran, Ron served in Vietnam as an Artillery Officer with the 9th Infantry Division and also with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He earned degrees from the University of South Carolina, Columbia International University, Dallas Theological Seminary, Columbia Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary.
Mike Goodenow (Ext 312) is our Director of Music. Mike holds a Bachelor of Music Education with a major in organ and a minor in piano and voice from Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa. He also has a Masters of Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, MO. Mike began his career by directing concert and marching bands in public schools from 1972-1976 in Orient, Iowa. From 1976 to the present, he has been working as Organist/Choir Director, Director of Music or Director of Music Ministries in four congregations from Iowa, to Florida and Michigan. In Michigan he directed an adult choir, two children’s choirs, 3 bell choirs and a Praise Band. Mike says: “Sacred music is the focus of my life although I am also very active with community choirs. I am…a member of Embellish, a professional community bell choir in Grand Rapids…. .” Please see our Music Page for more information.
Jason Sanford (Ext 341) is our Youth Director. Jason’s passion is ministering to youth and young adults, engaging them in fellowship, and guiding them through the love of Jesus Christ. His goal: to facilitate a warm and welcoming youth group environment in which every student is welcome, every student is important, and every student is given the opportunity to grow in Christ. He wants to connect people to God, to each other, and to the world. Curtis Splain, former Youth Director of Sanlando United Methodist Church, described him this way: “Jason has humility and great passion and wants all youth to come to know Christ as he does.”
Kendra Edenfield (Ext 329) is Director of Children’s Ministry and the Family Life Center. When she was 23 years old; she was asked to help open a full time daycare and learning center out of the church’s fellowship hall facilities. The center opened and has been a successful operation for 18 years. She also assisted with seeing the church’s Youth department grow and flourish and enjoyed traveling with the youth group to various summer camps that were organized under her direction. In Orlando she worked full time as the Executive Director of Ministries of FaithWorld Church in Orlando. Kendra enjoys all areas of the church but the young families are what she enjoys working with the most. On her off times, Kendra is a personal trainer and teaches fitness classes and training.
MaryAnne Losasso (Ext 307) is our Church Administrative and Financial Officer. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to FL in 1983. She began working at the church in 1992 as a teacher in the Mom’s Morning Out Program. In 1996 she was chosen to be the Associate Director of the Center for Early Childhood Education. MaryAnne studied Early Childhood Education and Childcare Management at Seminole State College. She received a grant from the Florida Children’s Forum which provided scholarship funds to her and members of the CECE Staff who wished to continue their education in Early Childhood. In 2007 she was chosen to be the Director of the Family Life Center in addition to her position as Associate Director of the Preschool.
Abbie VanDenBerg (Ext 305) is our Print and Internet Publications Administrator. She was born in Lansing, Michigan and raised in East Lansing and Okemos – both suburbs of Lansing. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Michigan State University. In her early career Abbie worked in television as a producer and editor. She later became co-host of a statewide PBS Outdoors show in Michigan. After her time in television she became a project manager for the non-profit professional training arm of the American Hotel and Motel Association. Her staff was responsible for creating training videos, CD’s, DVD’s and web-based applications for all levels of Hospitality Employment. This company moved her to Florida in 1999 to help establish their new headquarters in Orlando.
Regina Buchanan (Ext 327) is our Parish Nurse. She was born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley region, graduated from the State University of New York Orange in 1994 with an AAS in Nursing and started her career in that same community as a hospice nurse. She spent a number of years working at University of California San Francisco Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente. During her 16 years of nursing I’ve enjoyed working in diverse settings and areas of specialty including oncology and home health. She has also held a volunteer position as a parish nurse and is looking forward to getting to know and serve the community here at Maitland.
