Opportunities to Give Back

First Presbyterian Church of Maitland has a meaningful Missions Outreach Ministry (MOM) and actively supports faith-based charities at home and around the world with our time, talents and resources. We emphasize six key areas:  Basic Human Need, Children and Youth, Compassion, Evangelism, Hunger Programs, and Missions.

You are welcome to participate in any of our efforts by contacting  Joe McKinney or the Missions Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Maitland, (407) 644-3455.  You are also invited to attend FPCM Missions Ministry meetings, held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

The Two Cents Per Meal Program

P.A.T.H. (Presbyterian Answer to Hunger) administers Two Cents Per Meal, a partnership of prayer, gifts and mutual understanding which aids important answer-to-hunger projects in Florida and underdeveloped nations. First Presbyterian Church of Maitland along with 79 other churches in Central Florida Presbytery sponsors Two Cents Per Meal, which raises approximately $95,000 annually. Two Cents Per Meal is a wonderful way for families to be involved and to teach children the joy of participating in a collective effort to help others. Each participant contributes just 2 cents for each meal they consume during the course of a month, which is presented at worship the second Sunday of each month. All of those carefully collected pennies support the five partner missions here and abroad.

Mission Outreach Ministry

2012 Mission Possible was held during the week of April 22. Watch for our next Mission Possible! Below you can see some of our many activities for the week.

Ever want to volunteer in a Food Bank? We went to both Second Harvest and Loaves & Fishes!
Ever want to inspire At Risk Youth by playing a game of basketball? We went to Every Kid Outreach!
Do you know what Gleaning is? We found out at a local corn crop!
Want to organize a thrift shop that supports Atypical Children? The Russell Home needs you!
Is cooking & serving meals your thing? You could have joined us at the United Global Outreach or the Salvation Army!
Have gently used children’s clothes or toys? We donated during mission week to benefit a local children’s shelter!
Do you like to paint or fix things? We went to Every Kid Outreach to fix up a locker room for Hungerford!

 

Other FPCM Missions

In addition to Two Cents Per Meal, FPCM also supports many local and international Faith-based missions focused on basic human need, children and youth, compassion, hunger programs and Evangelism.
