Worship
| Welcome home to First Presbyterian Church of Maitland!
We invite you to attend one of our three services, where we gather to renew our spirit through God’s word, music, and preaching. All are meant to develop insight that will enrich our lives and deepen our relationship with the Almighty God and our Christian community.

Depending on which service you choose, you will hear and experience our rich tradition of music including the older traditional hymns at the 8:00 a.m. service, contemporary music with our praise team (Tapestry) at 9:30 a.m. and traditional music (with choir) at 11:00 a.m.If you are bringing young children to worship, we have activity books available in the narthex. At the 9:30 service, the children are asked to come forward for a children’s story about 15 minutes into the service. Afterwards, they leave the sanctuary for Sunday school. While every service where we have the opportunity to gather together and honor our loving God is special, we offer a few unique services throughout the year. Starting in January (scheduled for January 22), we celebrate the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church by experiencing a Kirk’n of the Tartans with bag pipes and family colors. Boy Scout Sunday is January 29. Youth Sunday is February 12. Presbyterian Women’s Sunday is April 22 where we commemorate the contributions of the women of our church. Jazz Sunday will be February 19. We celebrate children in worship on July 24. In the fall, we also have a Bluegrass Sunday (October 23). The Maitland Symphony Orchestra will be appearing at our worship services in 2011 on October 16 and on March 12 in 2012. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate open communion meaning that anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is invited to participate. Following worship at 8:00 and 9:30, or preceding the 11:00 service, join us in the narthex for coffee, treats and FPCMaitland hospitality. If you would like to become a member of our congregation, please contact the church office or Dr. Ron Smith.

What is Children’s Worship and how did it start at FPCM? Children’s Worship is a sacred time for young children that prepares them for corporate worship and allows them, in their own way to connect with God. It was started 13 years ago with the generous donations of church members. We were unable to offer the Center the past several years, but due to requests by parents and a directive from our Children’s Ministry team, clergy and Session, we are happy to again offer this special ministry to our youngest church members. How do I get my child to the Worship Center? Please take your child into the Sanctuary with you on Sunday morning. Following the children’s message the children will be dismissed. Those attending Children’s Worship will be taken to the library. Those in 3rd grade and above will go to Church School. What are the ages for Children’s Worship? Children who are four years of age on September 1, 2008 may start in the Worship Center. Children who start the 2nd grade this school year will be the oldest children attending. Please register your child in the Children’s Ministry office for this program. Where do I meet my child following the 9:30 service? Because this is an actual sacred service for children, we ask that families not enter the Worship Center to pick up their child, but stand at the library door. A Greeter will bring your child out to you. For more detailed information on this program, see Kendra Edenfield. Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday * MS & HS: Middle School & High School |
