Lake Kissimmee State Park Camping Trip!

A group of middle and high school students enjoyed wild life, nature, hiking, campfire fun, and fellowship in the great outdoors over the MLK holiday weekend. Of course Chef (Ms.) Lynn spoiled the campers with our camp favorites: ooeygooey chocolate cake, Brunswick stew and omelets in a baggie.

A Lasagna Dinner Surprise!

Week after week the Hospitality Ministry Group exhibits their love for the church and for the youth. We’ve enjoyed their potlucks, fundraisers and homemade goodies and E26 decided it was time to do something special for them. Figuring fibbing wasn’t all that bad if it was for the greater good, we invited the men and women of Hospitality to come to share about their ministry over a lasagna dinner on October 10th.

Little did they know that the week before youth learned and practiced setting a formal table and serving others and dinner preparations began early in the afternoon of the 10th.  Under the direction of Kitchen Manager, Joan McCain, both kitchens were full as 33  teenagers (and 17 adult sous chefs) were busy chopping, sifting, stirring, sauteing, and plating the menu carefully selected by E26 from the Church cookbook.  No detail was too small for this group of special men and women as was evidenced by the china, linens, candle light and custom artwork and soft background music that transformed dining room in the Family Life Center. Each guests had their personal E26 server and each course was artfully presented in a synchronized manner. After a game of manners trivia, the members of Hospitality left with a personalized apron that reads, “The Spirit of Maitland,” and a homemade buckeye candies.

E26 had a great time. 1 Peter 4:0-10 tells us to Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. Week after week Hospitality continues to inspire us to live with a servants heart and Christ like love. It was an honor for all of E26 to serve (and spoil) the Hospitality Mission Group. Thank you!

Hands for Hire

You have to admit, we do some pretty cool things around here… but it can get costly.
Hands For Hire is a way for you to help pay your way for the trips and activities we do. You sign up, and start getting calls from members of the congregation when there’s work to be done.  All of the money is put into an account for you, and then when you want to use that money for a trip or activity let us know!

The first step is to download and turn in the Hands for Hire form, and make sure that you have the Medical Release Form on file too.

A Previous Summer Mission Trip

Two vans made their way to North Carolina full of teens and power tools to help with home repair. 10 high school students and four leaders helped in the mobile home of an elderly woman in Madison County. Together we tore out two ceilings, replaced installation and drywall, cut out and repaired rotted flooring, laid new floors, did electrical work, water sealed the roof, painted the porch and organized the shed. With faith in God and a servants heart we worked to make a safer place to live for a woman in need. The theme for the week was Micah 6:8, “And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
